even before any press message has been sent out, i've received an e-mail from a well informed source confirming some rumours going around in holland (text in dutch first, later in english):De Rockin' Art tentoonstelling in St. Niklaas, België van afgelopen februari / maart krijgt een Nederlands vervolg. Van 25 augustus tot en met 9 september 2001 is zijn schilderwerk te zien bij de Kunstvereniging Diepenheim (20 km ten zuidwesten van Hengelo / Enschede). Het gaat in grote lijnen om dezelfde expositie als in België - dus tevens werk van andere beeldend kunstenaars / muzikanten - alleen korter van duur en met meer nadruk op muziek. Optredens van (onder voorbehoud) Kevin Coyne, de Kift, Stiller, Gary Lucas, the Ex, Krang, Tom Barman, Jazzno Trauma en anderen. Groeten, Adri Karsenberg (Krang).
(geen wonder dat i dat zo goed weet: hij is zelf een van de beeldende kunstenaars op de tentoonstelling, en de groep waar hij in speelt, krang, trad ook in belgië op - teejo.)
verder verzamelde gegevens:
het schilderijen-onderdeel - en de beschikbare katalogus - is inderdaad hetzelfde als van het rockin' art festival, met inbegrip van de werken van de andere kunstenaars en de foto's van anton corbijn. bovendien zijn er voorzieningen getroffen om videos van bijvoorbeeld de bbc documentaire te vertonen. de muziekoptredens gaan plaatsvinden in de open lucht, namelijk de tuin van de galerie en op het centrale plein van het dorp (hou dus rekening met zomers onweer).

The Rockin' Art exhibition in St. Niklaas, Belgium from February / March last gets a Dutch follow-up. From 25 August through 9 September 2001 Don van Vliet's paintings are shown at the Kunstvereniging Diepenheim (20 kilometers south-west of Hengelo / Enschede). On the whole it covers the same exhibition as in Belgium - so also with works by other fine artists / musicians - but just shorter in length and with more emphasis on music. There will be performances by (under reservation) Kevin Coyne, de Kift, Stiller, Gary Lucas, the Ex, Krang, Tom Barman, Jazzno Trauma and others.... further information i gathered:
the 'fine arts' part - and the catalog on sale - indeed is the same as at the rockin' art festival, including the works of the other participants and the pictures by anton corbijn. fortunately there have been found facilities to show videos of - for example - the bbc documentary. the music performances will take place in the open air, to be precise: in the garden of the gallery and at the central square of the village (so, be prepared for a summer thunderstorm). but be aware that some bands have dutch lyrics only....
